Nic Boychuk, creator of the N-PIN and owner of N-PIN Inc. is a professional double bassist and machinist technician.
After completing the Academy of Music program at Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta, Nic attended the prestigious Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music from 2000-2003. At the Glenn Gould School, he studied with Joel Quarrington, the principle bass of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra who has long been recognized as Canada's foremost double bassist and one of the world's leading players.
In 2003, Nic joined the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for two seasons as a section bassist. Nic is currently working as a machinist technician at Weir Canada Inc.
Having experienced the frustrations associated with standard end pins (such as slippage, dull tips, etc.), Nic put his machinist skills and technical innovativeness to work creating a system of end pins for the double bass and cello that work!
After numerous prototypes, Nic cemented the design: an end pin that securely holds in place, is easy to use, has a sharp tip that stays sharp, and that will last longer than other end pins.
N-PIN Inc. is a privately owned Canadian company with a strong dedication to improving the lives of musicians.
